Aireleen Zhu
Tiancheng (Aireleen) Zhu holds a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of Music degree from the University of British Columbia, and she is currently pursuing her Doctoral of Musical Arts degree under the guidance of Professor Michael Reynolds and Jean-Michel Fonteneau at Boston University College of Fine Arts. She has received masterclasses from Johannes Moser, Philippe Muller, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Anssi Karttunen, Gary Hoffman, Amit Peled and Katinka Kleijn.
As a soloist, she has performed with Richmond Delta Youth Orchestra and Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra. As an orchestral player, she has performed with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Boston University Symphony Orchestra, UBC Symphony Orchestra, Lagom Music Society, and National Youth Orchestra of China. She was the cellist of UBC’s String Quartet in Residence for 2023-2024.
She has won many awards, recently including the First Prize with her quartet in the 2025 Annual Young Musicians Competition Friends of Chamber Music Senior Category, the First Prize from 2021 New York Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, and the Third Prize from the 28th World Music Competition Canada Division.
