Grace M. Alexander
Grace M. Alexander is a modern and baroque violinist, arts innovator, and forest conservationist based in Vancouver, BC. A zealous collaborative artist at heart, her work centers on creating dynamic performances with musicians, composers, storytellers, and ecologists. Commended for her rich tone and expressive range, she engages diverse musical styles, performing with Duo Emersi alongside composer-pianist Will Rand frequently commissioning new works.
With musical leadership and collaboration as a lifelong artistic pursuit, Grace has recently appeared in projects such as Kiuryaq at the Vancouver International PuSh Performing Arts Festival (2026), ELEMENTS in New York City, and FirebirthLA with the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and the Society for American Music. Her performance experiences include “Weird Al” Yankovic, Rick Springfield, Carol Burnett, and Danilo Pérez, as well as pit orchestras and interdisciplinary productions. A frequent concertmaster and principal, she has led ensembles including the University of British Columbia Symphony Orchestra, St. Olaf Orchestra, and Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra. She performs regularly with the Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Program at UBC and has appeared with Gallo Baroque Chamber Players.
Grace is a prizewinner in multiple competitions, including first prize at the 2025 Friends of Chamber Music Young Musicians Competition, and finalist in the Saint Paul String Quartet Competition and the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle FWC. She is the founder of the Knapweed Performing Arts Festival and a founding team member of EarthStory. She also serves in roles with the International Cello Institute, Allegra Chamber Orchestra, and Við Djúpið Music Festival. She holds degrees from the University of British Columbia (M.Mus - 2026) and St. Olaf College (B.M. - 2023) and will pursue further studies starting Fall 2026 at McGill University Schulich School of Music (G.DP) and the Global Leaders Institute - Global Arts 2027 cohort (MBA).
